Carter Edwards is a British Columbia-based director, cinematographer, photographer and editor whose work moves between commercial production, documentary observation and outdoor environments he understands from the inside.
A background in skiing, snowboarding and ski-resort operations put Carter close to the athletes, weather and unscripted conditions he now films.
As Multimedia Coordinator at Banff Sunshine Village, Carter created social, event and commercial work, produced billboard imagery and worked directly with department leads. He also independently started and produced For the Love of Winter.
Self-produced documentary work expanded the practice beyond coverage, with stories built around people continuing to participate in outdoor and adventure communities.
Today, Carter works independently across concept, production, cinematography, photography, editing and delivery, and collaborates with larger teams when a project calls for it.

The idea decides the production. Planning, the shoot and post all follow from what the final work needs to do.
The audience and the final piece determine the production, not a fixed template.
Strong planning creates room to adapt quickly when weather, people or the location changes.
Documentary and observational work stays close to natural environments without over-directing what is already there.
Film, photography, shorter cuts and social formats are considered together when the project needs them.
Available for travel and multi-day production, working independently or alongside larger teams.
